A few months ago I envisioned a new direction for BladeAnvil the website. At that time we went offline and started looking for new software. As of today there is a beta version of BladeAnvil now public using Media Wiki. I’m also looking at a simpler Wiki that will be easier to use. The new software is now at Beta 2 and should be released very soon. The current road map has BladeAnvil back online as a magazine and wiki with relaunch the 4th of July, 2010. Watch for updates as we get closer to the Fourth of July. I would also like to thank everyone that’s been helping on the project, all the help has been much appreciated.
With all the political drama going on life in Thailand has been put on hold. It reminds me of the airport siege. n some ways this current crises is worse because of the deaths but the closing of the airport was more dramatic. This time tourist have not been directly effected as much, many have avoided Bangkok. Friends that live in the area around Nana BTS feel like hostages but life in Bangkok goes on. I’m still advising family and friends to avoid Bangkok. It’s just not worth going there now, Bangkok is no place to be until this crises is resolved.
The rains have come so it’s cooled off some. We had a couple of weeks where it was so hot and miserable all you could do was stay in the pool or shower. I hate air conditioning and refuse to use them as much as possible. When it gets so hot I stay close to a fan and tolerate the heat. Maybe thats from all the hot summer days back in Arkansas, no air and a little metal bladed fan. Its said Jim Thompson did not use air conditioning either. I’m not saying I’m anything like him but one can learn much from his life in Asia.
So for now almost every aspect of life is on hold, a perpetual state of waiting. From day-to-day there are announcements of resolutions, of good news. Then just as suddenly all the good news turns out to be a lie or a hoax. Nobody appears to have a real plan or any answers and the problems do not seem like they will ever end. At this point we in Thailand are only passengers on a runaway train, nobody knows what tomorrow will bring, we wait.
Here are a few pictures from my office window on a cloudy day. I love the Banana Trees, back when I was freezing my tail off all alone in Alaska I flew to town and bought 40 pounds of frozen Broccoli so I would have something to eat besides Caribou, Moose, and Salmon meat. Now I just go out back and hack down a fresh bunch of Bananas when they are ready, Life Is Good!

My internet communities have taken a unforeseen curve in the road and are for the moment offline. I take complete responsibility for this and apologize for letting my friends down. This is a bad thing today but there is good news too, we will be back online with a new and improved community which will focus on users, not software. I dont want to let the cat out of the bag just yet but I’m very excited about the improvements that our communities will soon have installed. Watch both Facebook and Twitter for news as our new software is installed on our new servers.
This has been on the back burner for the last few weeks so Its good to finally have something going. Look for new content every week or two including pictures from Asia.
